Watching the news this morning I was struck by a report that President Bush would be playing golf today with various members of the military and their family members as part of a national fundraiser to support military families. As part of the report they interviewed the family of an Air Force pilot who was killed while flying a mission which saved the lives of 22 service members on the ground. The family consisted of a woman likely in her mid-30’s, 3 daughters under 10, and 2 boys who appeared to be in their early teens. The pilot’s brother was interviewed as well.
This report, as well as the 10 year anniversary of 9/11 approaching, makes me think about what I and we do to support our military and their families. For those of you interested, have a look at this link to see military charities you may want to consider making donations to. The link is to Charity Navigator, and independent agency that describes a broad range of charitable organizations and ranks their financial integrity. I have sorted this list for charities which support our military: Military charities
