Romney’s Comments and Democrat Hypocrisy

In 2003-2006, Democrats traveling overseas claimed that President Bush lied to get us into war, gave the impression Bush was torturing hundreds, said the war in Iraq was lost while our troops were in harms way, said Gitmo was illegal and a hell-hole, and with every attack on American forces immediately criticized President Bush.  They called General Patraeus a liar on the Congressional Record when he said the surge was working.  Now, they are squawking because Romney criticized the Obama Administration for their Egyptian statement “apologizing” for the controversial anti-Muslim movie.

I’m not going to get into whether what Mitt Romney said was right or wrong except to say that his comments were made during the attacks on our embassies in Egypt and Syria, and were made prior to the killing of our Ambassador and 2 State Department Officials.  As well, the Obama Administration apparently agreed with Romney because they immediately withdrew the controversial Embassy statement.  Lastly, it is becoming more and more clear that these attacks had little or nothing to do with the movie in question.

That said, it is simply amazing how Democrats and the liberal media have jumped on Romney for criticizing what he thought was a position of weakness and appeasement.   One of the most irritating statements of all, expressed over and over on CNN, is that “politics stop at the American border”.  Yeah, right.  Liberals and their friends in the media need to look back at the outrageous statements Democrats made during the Bush administration, almost all of them politically motivated, almost all of them inspiring our enemies, and almost all of them unprecedented in a nation that prior to that had left political gain to 2nd over the benefit of the nation while at war.
